Rene Ricard X Madeline Weinrib X Emma Scully Gallery

Two rugs made in collaboration with Madeline and her dear, late friend, the poet, artist and critic, Rene Ricard, were presented by Emma Scully Gallery at the inaugural New York City edition of Brussels' Collectible Design Fair, which took place September 5 - 8, 2024, at Water Street Projects.

The two rugs exhibited showcase how Rene and Madeline worked together- Rene would write his poetry and position the words with his signature lyricism over the rug compositions Madeline designed. One of the rugs, "The Flower Beneath the Foot," 2024, was launched for the first time at the occasion of the Collectible Design Fair, available through Emma Scully Gallery. These two rugs are currently available for viewing by appointment at Emma Scully Gallery. Visit her website for more information.

A champion of thought-provoking contemporary and historic design, Emma Scully Gallery took part in the DIALOGUE section of the fair, and additionally presented contemporary works by artists and designers Rafael Prieto, Simone Bodmer-Turner, Jennifer Min, and EJR Barnes, in conversation with iconic pieces by French designer Philippe Starck.

This presentation followed the gallery's recent move into its new space, an inviting residence in the Upper East Side. Open by appointment, the new space displays a revolving selection of works from the gallery’s designers, juxtaposed with significant mid-century to 1990s historic and collectible pieces.
