With their lyrical, cascading forms and spontaneity of line, Madeline Weinrib's Climbers & Ramblers carpets blur the distinction between art and design. The abstracted botanical motifs and composition correspond to Weinrib's work as a painter and give this series its unique aesthetic. As with all of her designs, there is a nod to the traditional and the timeless, reflected in the flourishes of pattern that reference antique Persian motifs. Knotted in Pakistan from hand-spun wool, the technique gives rise to an earthy, robustly-textured pile that complements the natural, organic character of Weinrib's designs.
